  • Address or ZIP

  • Where the cleanout is, if you know
  • How soon you need it

Buying a home?

Tell us your inspection deadline. Many St. Louis homes have clay or cast-iron laterals that are 50 to 100+ years old, so a scope before closing is common.

St. Louis sewer lateral programs: what to know

City of St. Louis

The city program covers severe breaks under the public right-of-way only. Breaks under private property are the owner's responsibility. You'll need a licensed plumber's report and video. City SLRP page

Unincorporated St. Louis County

A licensed master plumber/drainlayer has to clear and certify the break first. The County then bids out and pays for the repair. County rules

Other municipalities

Many cities, such as Creve Coeur and St. Charles, reimburse part of the repair based on bids you collect. Rules vary, so check with your city before work starts.

Are you a plumbing company?

No. STL Sewer Camera is a referral service. We pass your request to an independent licensed local contractor, who contacts you, quotes the job, and does the work.

How much does a sewer camera inspection cost in St. Louis?

Each contractor sets their own price. Published local prices for a standalone sewer scope are often about $150 to $400, depending on access and line length. Ask for a quote before work starts.

Should I get a sewer scope before buying a house?

For older homes, homes with big trees, or homes with past backups, many buyers do. The lateral is the owner's property and repairs can run into the thousands.
